I am in! For two years I have been trying to get into this race. Online registration usually closes in 10 minutes. Today it opened at noon and I had the fortunate luck to get in at 12:05. I pretty much thought I had a 1 percent chance and it didn't look good for sometime, but then it just happened.
So now I am in. This year will be busy. Arrival of my daughter, adjusting to functioning on zero sleep and training starts in January. I have made a vow that I will not let training interfere with family life. That may require some very late night and extremely early morning workouts.
Time to now just enjoy this rest. I've been feeling very anxious without an IM on the calendar. For the last two years there has always been one on the schedule. Now I can sit back and enjoy this downtime because around Thanksgiving it's going to get nutty.

Back to it
Ok so you can only eat so many Five Guys burgers and fries, take in so much TV before going nuts, and be indoors so long. I've had a nice couple weeks off from doing anything and now I'm slowly climbing back into the saddle. With a week before the baby is due and life really changes, my muscles are well rested, the blisters have healed and I'm getting back to testing myself.
The carrot right now is the Boston Marathon. I think I'm going to try and qualify at the Hartford Marathon in October. I've got to go 3:10 and am hoping it can be done. I went 3:42 at IMCDA so things seem possible but with just a run focused I often get real bored and disinterested.
Today I got out for a nice hour long run in the sticky humid morning. Going out was fine but at the turn the heat just drilled me. I was off my IM training pace by about 45 seconds per mile. Feels good to work my way back in. Long run tomorrow and maybe some pool and weight work this coming week. Right now it all hinges on the baby so when she comes things get a little crazy for a while.
